Palm Beach International Boat Show

If you are wondering where the hot new charter destinations are and what will happen next in the brokerage market, then step over to the Palm Beach International Boat Show to check out the latest yacht launches. Here is where the industry’s key yachting inventory and the coolest yacht accessories are available for viewing. It’s also where the Burgess team on the ground will be able to answer all your yacht-related questions.

Dates to book

Scheduled to take place between 23-26 March at West Palm Beach Waterfront along Flagler Drive, the Palm Beach International Boat Show is one of three must-visit yachting events on Florida’s annual calendar. Alongside the Fort Lauderdale and Miami boat shows, Palm Beach is where the superyacht elite gather. It’s a prime opportunity for new and existing yacht owners and charter guests to access private tours aboard some of the world’s most coveted boats.

Where to go

Taking place in downtown West Palm Beach, directly across the Intracoastal Waterway from Palm Beach Island, the Palm Beach International Boat Show location offers a softer side to Florida’s high octane reputation. The Flagler Drive Waterfront is a seven-mile paved linear park that runs along the west side of the Intracoastal from Currie Park. The neighbouring Palm Beaches are havens of clean, tropical sands lapped by warm waters and frequented by fewer crowds than other Floridian hot spots.

Plan your trip

Whether you’re arriving by air, water or road, accessing the boat show and surrounding Palm Beaches couldn’t be simpler. The show organisers provide a range of maps, planning tools and complimentary visitor guides to help you build your itinerary around the yachts and accessories that most appeal. But no visit would be complete without factoring in all that the vibrant neighbourhoods have to offer as well. Enjoy an evening of inspiring music at the Palm Beach Symphony, South Florida's premiere symphony orchestra. Take a stroll across the Flagler Memorial Bridge, which offers sweeping views of Palm Beach’s skyline, before swinging by Royal Poinciana Plaza, an outdoor shopping centre with French boutiques and fine produce.

Aside from myriad tropical beaches, the leisure pursuits in the Palm beach area include fishing, boating, paddling and snorkelling in the region’s pristine waterways. The Worth Avenue shopping district is a buzzing outdoor retail attraction just steps from the water’s edge, or golfers can perfect their swing at The Breakers, a legendary all-American resort.

Visit Rosemary Square

Rosemary Square is the place to eat
Rosemary Square is the place to eat

Rosemary Square is West Palm Beach’s newest neighbourhood. It centres around a square from where destination eateries, bars, shops and parks can be found in chic concentration. It also proffers a mix of emerging arts and culture, such as the Wishing Tree, a vibrant LED banyan tree created by San Francisco-based collective, Symmetry Labs.

Take a trip to Peanut Island

Those with access to a yacht should head to Peanut Island. Aside from it being West Palm Beach’s party isle, it’s also home to a 1,500 sqft bunker, which was built in 1961 to protect President John F. Kennedy in the event of a nuclear attack. Soon to undergo an estimated three to four million USD restoration, it serves as a point of historic intrigue, long buried within the public park on the 80 acre island.

Explore Norton Museum of Art

Founded in 1941 by Ralph Hubbard Norton and his wife Elizabeth Calhoun Norton, the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach hosts a permanent collection of more than 8,200 works of art. Seize the opportunity to cast your eyes on masterpieces, such as Stuart Davis New York Mural and Jackson Pollock's Night Mist. But also pay attention to the building itself, whose architectural expansion in 2019 was penned by Foster + Partners, including the renovation of six Museum-owned, 1920s cottages.
